Uninterrupted ventilation through an MRI scan

Standard ventilators contain ferromagnetic parts and motors that cannot go near an MRI magnet. Hospitals often have to swap devices at the door or hand-bag the patient during the scan, which adds risk for a critically ill patient.

The Ventway Sparrow MRI is the MRI-conditional version of the Sparrow platform, so the patient can stay on the same ventilator from the ward, through transport and inside the MRI suite. It keeps the portable form factor of the standard model and supports SIMV-VC, SIMV-PC, CPAP and HFNC for adult and pediatric patients.

Important: "MRI conditional" means safe only under the stated conditions. Before use, check the conditions on the label and in the manual, such as field strength and distance from the scanner, against your hospital's MRI system, and involve your MRI safety officer in setting the procedure.

Installation and training

Thunder Venture Group works with your radiology and ICU teams to install the device, train staff on site, and handle calibration and annual safety inspection. For general ambulance use, see the standard Ventway Sparrow, or browse the full ventilator range.

Frequently asked questions

Can it be used with any MRI scanner?

Only within the MRI conditions the manufacturer specifies. Check the field strength and distance limits on the label against your scanner before use.

Can it be used outside the MRI suite?

Yes. It has the same portable form factor as the standard model, so it can stay with the patient from the ward to the scanner and back.
