Volumetric pump or syringe pump?
Volumetric infusion pumps draw fluid from a bag through an administration set using a peristaltic mechanism. They suit larger volumes such as IV fluids, antibiotics and parenteral nutrition. Our volumetric pumps run at up to 1,200 mL/h.
Syringe pumps push a small syringe with high precision. They suit low-volume drugs where accuracy matters most, such as inotropes, sedation and neonatal medication. The Worldmed C7 takes 5 to 60 mL syringes with ±2% accuracy.
Most critical-care units use both, often stacked on a docking station to save space at the bedside.

Safety features to compare
Infusion errors can be serious, so the safety system matters as much as raw accuracy:
- Drug library. Safe dose ranges are set in advance and the pump warns when a setting falls outside them. Available on the Worldmed V7 Smart and the Mindray BeneFusion.
- Occlusion detection. The MP-60 offers 11 sensitivity levels (30 to 130 kPa). The BeneFusion's DPS monitors line pressure continuously.
- Post-occlusion bolus control. Mindray's BolusGUARD reduces the surge of drug delivered when an occlusion is cleared.
- Electric tubing clamp. The BeneFusion has an electric clamp and door, which reduces the risk of free flow when the door is opened.
- Accuracy. BeneFusion iSP ±1.8% and iVP ±4.5%, Worldmed C7 ±2%, and the Worldmed volumetric pumps ±5%.
Connectivity, calibration and service
Worldmed pumps send data over WiFi to central monitoring, and the Workstation brings up to 6 pumps onto one display. The Mindray BeneFusion connects to hospital HIS, CIS and EMR systems through eGateway using HL7.
Flow-rate accuracy needs checking at regular intervals. Our biomedical engineering team calibrates to manufacturer standards, with traceable and documented results at every visit, and carries out annual safety inspection across all 77 provinces.
